Online Course on WVWC History, by Paula McGrew
This course is Free and Open to all.
Description: Welcome to “WVWC History” an online course dedicated to unraveling the rich history of one of West Virginia’s most storied institutions.
Established in 1890 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, the school has grown and evolved through the centuries. We will explore the milestones of that growth and the people who have been involved.
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to the basic facts and some fun things you may be surprised to learn. Each section of the course will do that, but if you find that you have curiosity to dig deeper you will find links to more resources.
Embark on this educational adventure to discover the legacy and enduring spirit of West Virginia Wesleyan College, a place where tradition meets progress and where the past continually inspires the future.
The Course takes approximately 2 ½ hours to complete, and you will receive a Certificate once you complete it.
The sections are:
Founding and Early Days (47:00)
- Prelude to 1890
- The Early Days
Buildings (1 hour and 54 minutes)
- Introduction to the Buildings
- Original Buildings
- Buildings 1940s and 1950s
- Buildings in the 1960s
- Buildings from 1972-2014
After you complete the course, please complete this brief Online Course Feedback. It is completely voluntary and anonymous, but will help me in the creation of new sections of the course. Thank you in advance!
