President Martin called upon students of West Virginia Wesleyan College in the assembly opening the academic year to share in the building of a free society, to dedicate themselves to Christian service, and to have a mutual concern for one another. The event was held at Ross Field, because Atkinson Chapel was not large enough to hold the more than 1200 students, faculty, and staff.
