President Hutchinson personally paid for a residence to be built at the corner of College Avenue and Sedgewick Street, in the Oak Grove. The Trustees agreed to purchase it from him when his relationship to the college ended.

President Hutchinson began a newspaper called the Seminary Herald to communicate with alumni and donors.

Ladies Hall (Now Agnes Howard Hall) opened. It cost $25,000 to build.

Dr. Hutchinson left in February to take up his duties as president of Genesee Wesleyan Seminary at Lima, New York. Dr. F.B. Trotter became acting president for six months.

President Boyers had the front of the campus planted with potatoes and oats.
First football game played, with Frank Thompson (Sem.1902) elected team captain.
The Seminary Herald became a student publication named The Seminary Collegiate and contained student writings and orations, alumni updates, and campus news.
