John W. Shimrak graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1967 with a B.S. degree in business administration. Upon graduation, Shimrak began his business career with Price Waterhouse & Co. in Philadelphia where he became a Certified Public Accountant. Later he joined the Campbell Soup Company in its corporate headquarters where he progressed through a number of accounting, financial planning, treasury, and controllership positions to eventually retire as Vice President – Controller, Campbell North America. He participated in several community organizations including Finance Director for the Berwyn United Methodist Church. The Tredyffrin Township Board of Supervisors where he served as Vice Chair and Chair, The Cooper University Health Care System Board of Trustees as Chair of the Audit/Ethics Comittee and a member of the Executive Committee. In addition, he served as a member of the West Virginia Wesleyan College’s Board of Trustees from 2009-2018, where he lead the audit and finance committees. Shimrak is also a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.
As a student at Wesleyan, he was involved in a number of campus activities including memberships in Theta Chi, Honorary Business Society,Community Council Awards Committee and the Hyma Glee Club and was elected to Who’s Who Among American Students in American Universities and College and Omicron Delta Kappa. Shimrak is married to Deniece “Dede” DuBois Shimrak ’67 and they reside in Berwyn, PA. They have three married daughters and eight grandchildren.
