  • Had a love for music and the arts, and spent many summers enjoying concerts and lectures at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, NY.
  • (1988) Dr. Howard H. Bright, a faculty member at Wesleyan since 1967 teaching in the departments of Christian Education, Sociology and Government, was appointed Wesleyan’s director of Church Relations. He is continuing the work begun by Patton Nickell, who focused on interpreting West Virginia Wesleyan College to the United Methodist churches of the West Virginia Western Pennsylvania Conferences. A ministerial member of the Western Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church and an affiliate member of the West Virginia Annual Conference, Dr. Bright has served pastorates in South Boston, MA; Chester, WV; and Allison Park, PA. During the 1987 Spring semester, while on sabbatical leave, he taught at the School of Theology in Claremont, CA. His new position will be assumed as a part-time responsibility along with classroom duties. [Sundial 1988, Winter/Spring, p.8]
