Presidents – Bennett W. Hutchinson

An excellent steward, the inaugural president put together an outstanding       faculty (10 including himself), furnished the only college building through advances and gifts from trustees and friends, and transformed the academic offerings from a high school level to a college level. Also, Hutchinson built a house in the Oak Grove (in front of the current library) with the understanding that the College Board would purchase it from him when he ended his time as president. That house remained standing until 1952.
