Served: 1935-73

  • Coached 5 varsity sports
  • Intramural Director for 32 years
  • Sports and Athletics instructor for the Army Air Forces: 49th College Training Detatchment 1943-1944
  • Director of Athletics 1958-72

Taught: 

  • Associate Professor of Physical Education 1935-1939; 1943-1959
  • Assistant Professor of Physical Education 1939-1945; 1948-1949
  • Professor of Physical Education 1959-1972
  • Professor of Physical Education and Director of Athletics Emeritus 1973-1979

Notes:

  • Taught math and coached football for five years at Mark Twain High School in Raleigh County. One of his students was Robert C. Byrd.
  • David Reemsnyder was both a Dreamer and a Giant. His obituary in the Sundial News included the following statement, : “His dreams for the finest of facilities for the Department of Physcial Education were pursued with persistence and he saw the facility through to completion as liaison between the cocllege and the architect and builder.”
  • The David E. Reemsnyder Research Center is named in his honor and also sits over the site of his office in the Old Gymnasium.

(1943) Sports Comments, by A/S Byers [Cub Flier 1943-09-06, p.1] Reemsnyder instituted an IntraClass Sports Program consisting of Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Tennis, and Horseshoes.
