Presidents – William John Scarborough (1946-56)

Buildings began to go up even as barriers began to come down. Residence halls were constructed and married housing, using army barracks was provided to assist the influx of students who had been forced to delay their education during World War II.
Wesleyan voluntarily integrated in 1949, leading the way among institutions of higher education in the state. Under Scarborough, the campus became the annual meeting place for the Methodist Annual Conference in 1953.
