  • Took the WVWC Tour Choir to Dallas, TX to perform at the Uniting Conference on April 26, 1968. The choir received a standing ovation from the approximately 10,000 people present from around the world.

  • “Mr. John E. Taylor of Fort Worth, Texas, joined the faculty as an assistant professor of music. Mr. Taylor will teach voice. He graduated from Texas Wesleyan College with cum laude honors with a bachelor of music degree. He earned master of sacred music and master of music degrees at Southern Methodist University. In addition, Mr. Taylor studied theology at the Perkins School of Theology at S.M.U. He is an ordained deacon in the Southwest Texas Conference. Mr. Taylor is a bass-baritone singer. He sang with the Perkins Seminary Singers and was a soloist with the San Angelo (Texas) Orchestra in a concert performance of Carmen. He also is rated an exceptional organist and conductor. He has been director of music a the Richland Hills Methodist Church in Fort Worth and director of children and youth choirs at the Poly Methodist in the same city. Mr. Taylor held posts of leadership in Pi Mu Alpha and the National Methodist Movement at T.W.C. and S.M.U. He was a member of the San Angelo Philharmonic Society for promotion of cultural events and the San Angelo Symphony Chorus. (Sundial, 1966)
