  • Young Men’s Christian Association
  • Married Ireta Lowe (college sweetheart)
  • Served as personal secretary to U.S. Senator Frank B. Willis 1921-1928
  • Served as personal secretary to Governor Myers Y. Cooper of Ohio
  • Very active lifetime member of the Methodist Church, serving on Mission Boards and being a delegate to General Conferences.
  • One of two men elected to Membership in the “Hall of Fame in Philanthropy of the Methodist Board of Hospitals and Homes.”
  • Became well known expert and speaker on Abraham Lincoln
  • Willed his extensive collection of Lincoln materials to West Virginia Wesleyan
