Theresa Poling, assistant professor in the Master’s Nurse Practioner program, will present her lecture “The Essential Components of Well-Being” on Monday, January 15 at 7 p.m. in the Hyma Auditorium, located on the first floor of Christopher Hall of Science. The presentation is the first of the WVWC Spring Faculty Lecture Series lineup.
The lecture will serve to define well-being and identify goals for wellness by exploring data about who is the sickest and who is the most well.
“We will seek to understand what makes us sick,” stated Poling, “Most importantly, we will examine our ability to improve the delicate balance between wellness and illness.
“This is an important lecture for everyone,” continued Poling. “Still in 2018, we are all just fragile and vulnerable humans that must take great care in order to live a long and well life.”
In addition to her work at Wesleyan, Poling also works as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Buckhannon Medical Care where she diagnoses and treats disease and educates on well-being. She is a doctoral student at West Virginia University where she will graduate with a doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) in 2019.
