Andrew L. Blair, a Buckhannon native who retired to Durham, N.C., after a long and distinguished law career, served as a Wesleyan trustee for 25 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Duke University in 1936 and a law degree from West Virginia University in 1939. Prior to World War II, he lived in Weston for two years where he was city attorney. A Navy veteran, he moved to Charleston in 1946 to resume his legal career, primarily with Jackson, Kelly, Holt & O’Farrell, one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in West Virginia. Also active in the West Virginia United Methodist Church, he has served as chairman of the administrative board at Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston and as chancellor of the West Virginia annual conference. The son of 1904 graduates of Wesleyan, he and his wife Catherine Shaffer Blair, are the parents of three children and eight grandsons.
