When Middleton Hall ppened in 1972, the Nursing Department finally had a home of their own. It had been located in the Benson House on Meade Street.

(1970) Growth Continues; New Building Rises [Pharos 1970-09-08, p.1]

(1970) Construction Begins on Middleton Hall [Sundial Fall 1970, p.1]. This article lists the donors and describes what the building will house. The cost of construction was to be $822,700. $531,545 came from the Health Manpower Act of 1968; $250,000 from the Western Pennsylvania Conference in memory of Bishop Middleton; $50,000 from an anonymous donor; $30,000 a gift from the Frueauff Foundation; $25,000 grant from the Kresge Foundation; and $28,000 from Alumni and Friends.

(1971) Middleton Hall was dedicated as a memorial to Bishop William Vernon Middleton, and as the home of the Nursing Department. Mrs. Middleton spoke at that [Sundial, Summer 1985]
